Plot |
It's all in the name of science. Weird Science.
The stylish and witty fantasy, written and directed by critically-acclaimed filmmaker John Hughes, shows the fun and foibles of teenage life through the near-sighted eyes of nerdish computer whiz Ilan Mitchell-Smith and best friend Anthony Michael Hall. By the way of a supernatural mix of off-the-wall alchemy and the power of positive thinking, the social misfits try to solve their youthful troubles by creating the "perfect woman" in the form of the tantlizing Kelly LeBrock. In the name of science - Weird Science that is - their computer-generated fairy godmother gives the duo the low-down on how to throw the wildest parties, drive the fastest cars and chase the wickedest women. The stunning answer to a teenager's prayers also finds time to tutor her wide-eyed students on the pleasures and pitfalls of adolescence, with lessons on surviving obnoxious older brothers, dealing with school bullies and understanding well-meaning parents. This sci-fi fable is enchanced by eye-popping effects and outlandish creatures supplied by the team who brought E.T. to the screen. With a rock beat performed by many music superstars including Oingo Boingo, everyone's favorite teenage fantasies are brought to life through the miracle of Weird Science..
